Flora & Function

Flora & Function LLC is my handmade ceramics business. I have been working in clay since 2014 and am a full-time artist!

I love the magic of plants and herbs, and bring them into ceramics with my drawings! When I take the time to draw a plant, I feel that I am getting to know that plant on a deeper level.

In my recent fauna series, I am exploring different animals and what they mean to me. For instance, snakes have been seen as something frightening or evil, but I am exploring how they can be seen as something beautiful. Animals should, of course, always be given their due respect, but they don’t have to be feared. Other animals like the rabbit and birds I see as majestic and intriguing creatures, but they are often ignored or seen as pests in the city.

I focus on functional ceramics so that my work can become part of your daily life. By using handmade ceramics, simple things like your morning coffee or tea can become a personal ritual.
