Description
Lá Liath, pronounced la lee-ah, is Irish for “grey day,” and was chosen to reflect the (usual) Seattle weather. Our mission is to bring the baked goods of the British Isles to Seattle while highlighting local ingredients. All items are made from scratch and baked in our retail location in Wallingford.
Bakery owner Marenka, pronounced Ma-zhen-ka, has a love for all things tea and pastry, as well as her partner, cats, tabletop roleplaying games, travel, and cookbooks. Her favorite items to eat are the Viennese Whirls and Bakewell tart, though she thinks the Guinness cake is the best-smelling item to make.
After opening our brick-and-mortar storefront in Wallingford in February of 2024, our team has grown to include three more talented (and equally nerdy) individuals. You can learn more about us from our biweekly email newsletter, which features menu specials and all sorts of pastry fun facts.
The bakery was recently featured in the Seattle Times, where you can also find a recipe for a delightful orange spice shortbread!
