Description

Oyin Handmade makes moisture-rich hair and body care for highly textured hair and dry skin, using food-grade ingredients instead of the petroleum, silicones, sulfates, and parabens found in most drugstore formulas. The name comes from the Yoruba word for honey, a nod to the humectant-rich, nourishing approach behind every product — from leave-in “Juices” and detangling conditioners to whipped body butters and a beard line for men.

Founder Jamyla Bennu started mixing products for her own natural hair in 2001, at a time when most haircare marketed to Black women pushed straightening instead of moisture. She built the company’s first website in 2003 and still leads it today. Two decades later, Oyin self-manufactures everything in Baltimore, ships fresh orders the next business day, and has built a loyal following (4.83 stars across 1,700+ reviews) along with regular features in Essence, Allure, and Vogue.
